Wal-Mart is teaming up with Missouri's food banks to combat hunger in Missouri.

In an effort to help those dealing with hunger, the Missouri Promoting Food Security Plan educates people about the options available for emergency food assistance.

The Wal-Mart Foundation is teaming with the Missouri Food Bank Association (MFBA) to promote the plan and will discuss its implications this morning at 9:30 in Jefferson City.

Bart Brown, the MFBA Board President and CEO of Ozarks Food Harvest will be in attendance at Wal-Mart off Stadium Boulevard in Jefferson City .

Others planning to be at the morning discussion include CEO of the St. Louis Area Food bank Frank Finnegan, State Senator Mike Kehoe, Representative Mike Bernskoetter, representatives from Missouri's four other food banks and Wal-Mart.

The Wal-Mart Foundation is donating $50,000 to the MFBA and Missouri's Promoting Food Security Plan. This donation will help combat the growing problem of hunger in Missouri by educating Missourians about existing options for emergency food relief. This single donation will be the equivalent of over 150,000 meals for hungry Missourians.

According to Feeding America, the nation's largest feeding network, more than 1,000,000 Missourians struggle with food insecurity every year; more than 300,000 of those people are children.
