Fireworks shows snuffed out

Update: Wednesday, July 4th at 10:20 a.m.:

The Village of Centertown has banned the use of fireworks due to drought conditions.

Village officials said the ban comes from Village Ordinance 150 that they put into effect because of the dry, drought-like conditions. The ordinance bans the use of fireworks within village limits and within a 1600 hundred feet radius outside of the village, effective immediately.

With the hot and dry conditions mid-Missouri is experiencing, some fireworks displays have been canceled or postponed.

Eldon, no date set

Boonville, no date set

Canceled:

Kingdom City Boster Castle festival

St. Elizabeth

Freeburg Lions Club

Lost Valley Lake Resort

The fireworks show in Columbia could be canceled depending on the weather, according to fire officials.
