On Friday around 6 p.m., Boone County deputies arrested a Columbia convenience store owner for showing a handgun to a customer after a dispute over smoking near fuel pumps.

The owner of Mari's Convenience store, 58-year-old Rafiqul Khan, pulled the pistol on the customer inside the store on East Prathersville Road, in the sight of several other customers.

Deputies arrested Khan on Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Third-Degree Assualt after the customer called 9-1-1.

Khan later posted $5,000 bond and was released from jail.
