Cooper County authorities continue to investigate the death of a 2 1/2 month old girl.

Emergency responders found the infant’s body on Monday at her home east of Boonville after they got a call from someone who said a baby was not breathing.  Medical teams couldn’t revive the infant.  Authorities pronounced her dead at the scene.  Cooper County Coroner James Hurt said it could be several weeks before he releases any information from the girl’s autopsy.  Cooper County Sheriff Jerry Wolfe could not be reached for comment.  Sheriff’s investigators are currently treating this case as an infant death and not a homicide.

Cooper County Prosecutor Doug Abele said he has not filed any charges in this case.  Abele is waiting for a report from the Cooper County Sheriff’s Department.

A child death review board discussed the case on Friday.
