Owners of a Boone County horse stable watched as their hay barn went up in flames Wednesday. The large metal structure was filled with hay for the horses at Glendale Stables. It also contained a hay baler and combine. Damage is estimated at about $300,000.

No one was injured. and the horses in the stable nearby were not threatened.

The blaze broke out around 4:15pm Wednesday. At one point there were ten units and five tankers from the Boone County Fire Protection district on the scene.  Firefighters stayed on the scene for several hours dousing hot spots. The stables, located on Glendale Rd. northeast of Columbia, offer riding lessons and house saddlebred horses.
