There’s a place in St. Louis where you can boldly go where no one has gone before.

Star Trek: The Exhibition is flying through the galaxy at the St. Louis Science Center.

The exhibition brings 45 years of authentic Star Trek artifacts to life.

Georgia Wessling of Shelbina made the trek to St. Louis to get a close up look at her science fiction obsession.  Georgia has been watching Star Trek TV shows and movies for more than 40 years.  The Star Trek exhibition gave her a chance to feel like she was part of the Star Trek universe.

Wessling said, “I’m a fan.  I’m not a fanatic.  I couldn’t tell you every little detail that happened in them, but they feel like family when I watch.”

The exhibition showcases the largest collection of Star Trek artifacts ever put on public display.  Visitors can get their picture taken in Captain Kirk’s chair on the old Enterprise Bridge.  Tour Guide Eli LaChance is an expert on the exhibit’s Star Trek costumes and props including a replica of the bridge from Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Lachance said, “We have several actual props and replicas of various artifacts from the TV shows.  We have several costumes, as well, along with a lot of informative information on the actual science behind Star Trek.”

Visitors can also take a break in the Star Trek Holodeck and get up close and personal with their favorite character or alien.

Star Trek: The Exhibition runs through May 28 at the St. Louis Science Center.
