COLE COUNTY - Some Saturday night fooling around got hotter than the stolen guns involved when a teenager unintentionally shot his buddy.
Fortunately for the injured teen, the .38-caliber gunshot wound to his upper right arm wasn't serious, so he went to the nearby Beeline Snack Shop at Old Loman and Westview to buy rubbing alcohol to treat himself, said Cole County Sheriff Greg White on Monday.
The Jefferson City-area teen then drove himself to a nearby hospital seeking treatment for the gunshot wound, White said.
The two teens, both 16, were reportedly playing with loaded .38-caliber handguns in the 1300 block of Biscayne Drive when the shooting occured. Both weapons involved in the incident were reported stolen from the Columbia area. One has been tracked to its owner, White said.
Both 16-year-olds remain unidentified.
The incident remains under investigation.
