Fight over lawn mower leads to shooting

JEFFERSON CITY, MO -- An argument over a lawn mower escalated into a shooting Tuesday afternoon in Jefferson City.

At about 4:30 p.m. police officers responded to an assault involving a firearm at 2025 East McCarty Street, which is the site of A-1 Small Engines. The victim said he got into a verbal fight with an employee. The situation escalated when he said the suspect, a 40-year-old Jefferson City man, pulled out a gun. The victim said the suspect fired two shots at him as the man tried to leave. The victim was not hurt.

Officers arrested the suspect. He’s name is not being released while charges are pending. He could face a second degree assault with a weapon charge.
