The yummiest Capitol event of the year called attention to the need for better investments in Missouri’s schools, health services, public structures and systems.

A diverse coalition of community and action groups are hosting a Capitol ‘Bake Sale’ onTuesday.

They called for creative and courageous leadership in balancing our state budget.

They said, until legislators get serious about a streamlined sales tax, stop coddling cigarette companies and ask multinational corporations to pay their fair share, everyone else will have to invest in public structures and systems.

Cookies, brownies and pies were sold and $238 in donations were collected and turned over to the Department of Revenue for deposit in the state’s General Revenue Fund.
