The show is called Auction House, and it is what you might expect: fast-speaking auctioneers, and luxurious houses for sale.
"I put the word out to a production company I know. They were interested. We worked two years on getting it developed. HGTV presented it to several networks. HGTV loved the idea, and so they gave us a pile of money to go and make a pilot here, so that's what we're doing," said Keith McLane, one of the show's visionaries.
HGTV and the show's production crew were at the Lake of the Ozarks Saturday to film a few auctions involving some hot-list properties in the area.
Folks in charge of the auction say that people come to them all the time with properties they need to sell ASAP.
"Usually it takes a pretty motivated seller; somebody who wants to move on to the next property. And so they just decide that they, rather than list it with an agent and sit there and wait, they want to know that it's going to sell in 30 days," McLane said.
Many locals came out; some just to see what all the buzz was about and others see themselves on HGTV's next big potential hit.
"The interest in the show has just been incredible. We had people show up and just take interest in the show. I think one [reason] is because people obviously like HGTV shows, but two people really want to promote this area, and people that live here know what a wonderful place this is, and are really happy to share it with the world and want the world to know about it," said McLane
Another shooting is scheduled for April 7 at various high-end properties around Lake of the Ozarks.
