JEFFERSON CITY -- During the Jefferson City Council’s meeting Monday night a bill will be introduced for improvements to the Fire Department.
The council will be given a presentation about the Fire Department Improvement Plan.
The plan would create six budget categories; Fire suppression and emergency equipment, Firefighting and EMS training, Communications and technology equipment, Apparatus lease and replacement program, City’s contribution for firefighters in LAGERS, and Funding fire station improvements.
The city says the plan will be funded with a ¼% sales tax.
The plan, if accepted, would reduce City Property tax 9.61 cents, 17% reduction by eliminating the property tax for the fireman’s pension.
Since Monday night will be the first time the council hears the full presentation for the plan, the council most likely won’t vote on it until their next meeting.
