A man is under arrest for a murder in Columbia Sunday afternoon.

Columbia resident, Larell Montez Banks, 18, was arrested for second degree murder and armed criminal action.

In a news release, the Columbia Police Department said the investigation is ongoing.

Columbia Police are investigating a weekend homicide.

Police said the shooting happend Sunday afternoon in the 300 block of 8th Street.

39-year old Lamont Sergent was taken to the hospital and later died.

Investigators are still trying to figure exactly what happened.

As of right now police haven't released any other information about the incident.
