Mid-Missouri is starting off the week on the white side. Moisture from the south is interacting with an area of low pressure and the cold air temperatures from the weekend to produce light snow across the Show-Me State.
Most of Mid-Missouri should see about an inch from 5 AM - 12 PM. With an additional 1-2 inches for the afternoon and evening hours. There may be a few breaks in the wintry weather this afternoon with a chance for somewhat heavier snow for the evening commute between 5-7 PM. Total accumulations for most of the area should be between 1-3 inches. There is a narrow band from portions of Cole, Boone, Callaway, Osage, Gasconade and Montgomery Counties that could receive between 3-4 inches before the snow tapers off tonight by midnight.
We could see a few flurries and patchy freezing drizzle overnight, but above freezing temperatures for the rest of the week should help melt the snow fairly quickly. Our next chance for precipitation will come Wednesday in the form of rain.
We also would like to remind drivers to be extra cautious driving this morning and throughout the day because roads are slick. Remember if you have to travel somewhere be sure to give yourself extra time.
