BLAND, MO -- A mid-Missouri post office is closing.
The Bland, Missouri location, in Gasconade County, will close its doors as early as Tuesday. The postmaster at the location said she just found out about the closing on Monday.
Postmaster Debbie Scheel described the news in one word: “shock.” Scheel said she did not know about the closing ahead of time or if the Bland post office was on a list of possible locations to close.
Scheel referred us to the manager of postal operations in area 6 for further questions. That official did not return our phone call.
Scheel said crews were planning on coming by the post office at 7 a.m. to start hauling off items and equipment.
