‘Tis the season for holiday happenings!  Milo and I got our first take of the festivities a couple weekends ago at the Columbia Holiday Parade.  It was cold, but fun!

We arrived right at 3 p.m. and got a front row spot.  It was chilly that day, overcast, and rained a little in the morning, so I think a lot of people chose to stay at home.

Even though it was cold, Milo was not the only puppy there.  Right when we walked up two little dachshunds greeted us.  One was not a fan of Milo the other seemed okay with him.  We later learned that Tony was a rescue dog who was a little timid and shy, but just needed to socialize a little more with other dogs.  So Milo and Tony sniffed each other out for a bit until the parade rolled by. :)

There were high school bands, organizations, community groups, and of course, Santa!  But two groups stand out in my mind.

First, the guy driving the KTGR ESPN Radio car screamed out that my dog was cute (thanks, man!).  Second, it’s hard to forget about the FLOOD of Girl Scouts.  At one point I looked up Broadway to see what was coming next and all I saw was a sea of girls. As a former Girl Scout myself, I was pretty proud of the strong representation.

As for Milo, he was most impressed by the Humane Society as it rolled on by.  They had a very cute float and even a couple furry friends trotting along.

Just like the last parade we went to, Milo got scared a few times (especially when this HUGE truck went by).  He was shaking almost the entire time, but I’m not sure if that was because he was kinda scared or just cold.

Which leads me to this weekend… Milo and I will be in the Jefferson City Christmas Parade this Saturday!  There will be quite a few of us from KRCG in the parade, including at least one other 4-legged friend (Kate Lauman’s dog, Brody).

It’s an evening parade (starts at 4:30) so it’s going to be dark and cold.  The parade goes along High Street, then north on Monroe, then back the other direction on Capitol.  We have some sweets and other goodies to hand out so make sure you flag us down!

Tomorrow, I’ll write about a major decision I made because of the Jefferson City parade.  I sorta disappointed myself. We’ll discuss tomorrow :)

Stay tuned for more!
