Teens arrested in stolen vehicle

BOONE CO. -- Two Columbia teenagers were arrested after police said they were driving a stolen car.

Just after 6 p.m. Saturday night a Boone County Sheriff's Deputy on routine patrol found the car which was stolen from the city earlier in the day.

When the deputy tried to stop the car, the driver, Dakota Schalk, 17, fled with his passenger Ryan Chandra, 17.

After a pursuit around the city/county line, the vehicle came to a stop just East of Highway 63.

A search by a Columbia Police Department K-9 unit found a bag of marijuana hidden in the vehicle.

Schalk was arrested for tampering, possession of marijuana, resisting arrest by fleeing, driving while revoked and careless and imprudent driving.

Schalk's bond was set at $10,500.

Chandra was arrested for, tampering and resisting arrest by fleeing.

Chandra posted his bond which was set at $1,000.
