The Sinai Peninsula of Egypt continues to be a staging area for Islamic Jihadists bent upon taking back the Gaza Strip in Israel. Rocket attacks and injured children are almost daily occurrences here.

Columbia resident Eric Evans will lead a company of 90 Missouri guardsmen into the Sinai as part of a multi-national force agreed to by Egypt and Israel. The mission is one of general support.

"Sustainment of the forces that are there,” Evans said. “We do postal, we do medical. We make sure all the outposts are filled with what they need as far as their supplies, their food, their fuel.”

Peace treaty enforcement in the Sinai has been going on for three decades. The National Guard has only been involved for six years, and the Missouri Guard is involved for the first time.
