Update: Monday, July 25 at 5:55 p.m.:

A University Hospital spokesman told KRCG the father, Khalid Shaltaf, has passed away.

The Camden County Sheriff's Office said Shaltaf, 47, tried to save his drowning son, who also died. Neither man could swim.

Original Story:

One person drowned and another is in critical condition at a pool at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Surveillance video shows Ali Shaltaf, 21, swimming in a pool at the Lodge of the Four Seasons. Shaltaf was unable to swim and went into the deep part of the pool. After becoming submerged, Ali's father, 47-year-od Khalid Shaltaf, also a non-swimmer, jumped into the pool to help. Neither resurfaced.

The two were discovered around 18 minutes later by lodge guests and staff.

Paramedics began CPR on both victims upon their arrival. They were able to revive Khalid Shaltaf. He was then transported by chopper to University Hospital in Columbia.

However, crews were unable to save Ali Shaltaf. He was pronounced dead at the scene and was taken to Springfield for an autopsy.
