Update: May 10 at 11:15 a.m.:

The Missouri Water Patrol released more information about what led to the arrests of two Stover residents in conjunction with a search and rescue operation.

Authorities said they arrested Robert Gabauer and Michelle Miesner after Gabauer was located in Camden County.

They said continued interviews with Miesner, the only witness to the situation, revealed inconsistencies in her story about what happened at Franklin Island.

Both are housed at the Howard County Jail.

Update: May 9 at 5:05 p.m.:

Two Stover residents were arrested after authorities found a man suspected of falling into the Missouri River at Franklin Island.

Robert T. Gabauer, 44, of Stover, and Michelle L. Miesner, 43, of Stover, were both arrested for felony attempted commission of fraudulent insurance act and filing false police reports.

Gabauer reportedly had fallen into the Missouri River, which prompted a joint search effort between the Howard County Fire Station 2, Cooper County Fire, Boone County Fire, Water Patrol and the Missouri State Highway Patrol helicopter.

He was later found in Camden County, alive and well.

Update: Monday, May 09 at 6:00 a.m.:

The Missouri Highway Patrol confirms that the man has been found alive.

Saturday night at 10p.m. the Howard County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a male falling into the Missouri River at Franklin Island. 

A press release said a joint search effort started by the Howard County Fire Station 2, Cooper County Fire, Boone County Fire, Water Patrol, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol helicopter. 

The search was stopped due to hazardous conditions. 

The search resumed Sunday morning by Howard County Fire station 2, Cooper County Fire, Boone County Fire and Water Patrol. 

The Red Cross is on hand to help provide canteening services to the responders on scene.
