HOLTS SUMMIT, MO -- A man is in custody suspected of killing a southern Missouri couple.
Officials from Dent County and the Highway Patrol arrested Gary L. Stevens, 58, Friday afternoon. Dent County deputies told KRCG Stevens was at his brother’s house in Holts Summit.
Stevens is suspected of killing Dennis and Mary Lewis. Mary is Stevens’ sister.
Charges are pending at this time. Dent County Sheriff Rick Stallings said charges could be filed as soon as Saturday. Stevens is being held in the Dent County Jail.
There is no word on a possible motive for the killings.
The Lewises were found dead in their rural home near Salem Tuesday evening.
An autopsy report done in Columbia found Dennis was shot in the head 3 times. His wife Mary was shot in the head once.
Stallings said the Lewises had been dead about 10 hours before a friend found them while doing a welfare check.
The couple’s disabled daughter, Jennifer, was home at the time. Officials have released Jennifer to her brother.
