Missouri agencies and interest groups hoping for more money are getting a consistent response: "No."

Governor Jay nixon's administration has told departments to assume any programs cut this year will remain gone next year. It also directed them not to ask for additional state dollars, unless it's for a federally mandated program.

House budget committee chairman Ryan Silvey has posted a sign outside his capitol door. It asks visitors if they are seeking more money. Then it asks: "have you lost your mind?"

Missouri's general tax revenues plunged more than $1.2 billion from 2008 to 2010. Although revenues are up slightly this year, Gov. Nixon cut an additional $300 million from the budget.

Nixon estimates missouri faces a $500 million shortfall in the budget that starts July 1.
