JEFFERSON CITY, MO --

Update: Wednesday, Dec. 22 at 5:45 p.m.:

Jefferson City police say the strange bottles found behind the Super D Discount Drug store were used to make meth.

Police Department spokesman Capt. Doug Shoemaker said witnesses did not see anyone put the two bottles behind the store, and there are no suspects at this time.

The Jefferson City Fire Department cleared the scene after the discovery of some "strange" objects.
 
A person found two bottles with tubing coming out of them in the area behind Super D Discount Drugs.
 
Fire Department spokesman Jason Turner said one container was a detergent bottle and the other was a liter bottle with tubes coming out.
 
Turner said he can't confirm whether the bottles were used for illegal drugs, but did say the containers posed a safety issue.
 
HAZMAT crews took the bottles to away from the scene. They will dispose them in a proper way that's safe for the environment.
 
The fire department got the call at about 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday.  The scene was cleared by 12:30.
