Girlfriend charged for setting bed on fire while boyfriend slept

COLUMBIA, MO. -- A Columbia woman was arrested for heating up the bedroom by setting fire to the bed while her boyfriend was sleeping.

Donna S. Book, 56, was charged with first degree arson and is being held at the Boone County Jail.

Neighbors called 911 Saturday night after they saw smoke filling Book’s trailer. Neighbors ran into the home, took out the clothes and bedding that were on fire and put the fire out.

A neighbor told Columbia Police that Book set a blanket on fire on Oct. 28, which neighbors also helped put out. Book’s boyfriend confirmed the incident.

Columbia Police Officials said Book made incriminating comments to police while she was being interviewed. When police tried to take her to a holding cell, Book kicked an officer in the leg.

Book’s bond is set at $250,000.
