ROCHEPORT, MO -- A new Mid-Missouri not-for-profit organization named "Pets Need People", is hoping for a little financial help.

The creators of the network petsneedpeople.org met in Rocheport Sunday to raise funds and to bring awareness to their new program.

"We are actually a website that has pets that are listed with a picture. A free listing as matter of fact,” President of Pets need people Bobbi Wilson said. “The listings are also screened because we want to watch who's in and who's out with what’s going on with their animals."

Wilson said this new website helps people who want a pet search for one. Then, instead of contacting the website, they contact the owner who has listed the pet, and then they can find out more information on the animal.

"Of course you to have people know website. So that's what we're about today informing,” Wilson said. “Second thing we're about of course is raising money, you have to do that to keep up and going. So all the proceeds today that we make, and ticket sales for drawings, 100 percent of that money will go to petsneedpeople.org to keep the website going."

A number of people were there Sunday to support this new network and enjoy the food, games, and music.

"I think what these people are doing means so much to people. Nobody really wants to relinquish their pets,” Supporter of Pets need people Suzanne Younger said. “If for what ever reason they can't get rid of their pets in a certain way that they don't want too. They want to make sure that their animals are going to a good home. So it's a good organization that I feel really strong about."

As the music played people came pouring in, some with animals, to show support for this network.

The fundraiser Sunday lasted til 5:00p.m.
