Columbia man in custody after running from police

A chronic DWI offender is in custody after running from police.

Boone County Sheriffs deputies arrested 36 year old Jason Puckett about 1:00 a.m. Sunday morning.

Officers said Puckett was pulled over for a routine traffic stop near the 5000 block of Clark Lane but then ran into a wooded area.

Puckett has five prior DWI convictions, and six prior convictions for driving with a revoked license.
