JEFFERSON CITY, MO. -- The attorney for a man accused in a double murder in Jefferson City said he does not know when he will be ready for trial.

David Hosier appeared in court Monday morning for a status hearing in the case.

Hosier is suspected in the September 2009 murders of Angela and Rodney Gilpin.

Attorney Rick French said there is still a lot of preliminary work to do.

"We've identified areas where we're probably gonna have to hire expert witnesses,” French said. “We don't have all the information back from his medical records.”

Investigators believe Hosier had developed a romantic relationship with Angela Gilpin and became enraged when she broke it off in an effort to reconcile with her estranged husband.

Judge Pat Joyce ordered another case status hearing for early August.
