JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- The executive director of the Missouri Gaming Commission is stepping down effective July 1.

The commission said Thursday that Gene McNary submitted his resignation this week during a board meeting. McNary has been the executive director since 2006.

He'll be replaced by Roger Stottlemyre, currently the commission's deputy director of enforcement.

Stottlemyre is a former Highway Patrol superintendent and has been regulating gambling since 2006.

The announcement of McNary's resignation comes in the same week that Gov. Jay Nixon appointed two new members to the five-member commission.
