Original Story:

Columbia Police are investigating a shooting near Douglas Park that happened Tuesday night.

They say a man was shot once in the stomach and taken to University Hospital where he is currently recovering from surgery.

Police say he was hit in the street in front of a home at 409 Circus Avenue, that's near Columbia College.

Three shots were fired and the wounded man ran into the home. A woman inside called 911. EMT’s responded just after 9 p.m.

Police don't know if the two knew each other.

The man believed to be between 35 and 40-years-old was conscious when he was taken to the hospital, but police aren't sure how severe his condition is.
