BOONE COUNTY -- The Boone County Sheriffs Department says a man who went missing last week has still not been heard from.

Billy Joe Basinger, 55, also known as J.R., was reported missing from his home on Route M in Hartsburg early Monday morning.

He has not been heard from since.

Boone County deputies said family members say Basinger had been showing signs of depression.

Police say at first they did track a "pinging" from his cell phone to the Centertown area, but by the end of last week the signal stopped.

They believe he either turned it off or the battery died.

Police have alerted authorities in Cole County about the case.

J.R's wife says it's not like him to leave without telling someone.

He was last seen wearing a green sweatshirt, blue jeans and house slippers. He was also with his dog.

He's six-foot-one-inch, 170 pounds with green eyes and brown hair.

His Newfoundland dog could be with him.

He could possibly be driving a green 2000 Toyota Tundra.

You have any information on him you're urged to call the Boone County Sheriffs Department at (573) 875-1111.
