Its still five days until the Polar Plunge at Lake of the Ozarks, but already law enforcement officers from mid-Missouri are freezin' for a reason.

JEFFERSON CITY, MO. -- Its called "Cops on Top."

Representatives from the Jefferson City Police Department, the Cole County Sheriff's Department, and the Missouri Highway Patrol are on top of the Coca-Cola bottling company building until noon Tuesday, raising money for Special Olympics.

Organization officials said the fundraiser is an important one.

"I think it shows the athletes of Jefferson City and the surrounding areas that these officers care about what they're doing, they're supporting them, they applaud them, and they want them to do their very best and this is a way that can happen," Special Olympics representative Diane Brimer said.

As of noon Monday, the officers had raised just over $2,000.

If you want to help, you can donate in person. Just stop by the bottling company at the corner of Hwy. 50 and Jefferson St.

KRCG's own Zach Paul, Monica Madeja, Kassie Crimi, and Mallory McGowin will be plunging at Saturday's 15th annual Polar Plunge.
