COLUMBIA -- A 23-year-old grocery store manager is the latest person to throw in his bid for Columbia mayor.

Sean O’Day is one of six people wanting to replace Columbia Mayor Darwin Hindman.

Hindman announced he was not seeking re-election after serving seven terms.

O’Day moved to Columbia from Hallsville four years ago.

O’Day said he brings something new to Columbia’s political scene.

“I don’t want to make any big, sweeping changes," O’Day said. "I think Columbia is a pretty, great town. I’m glad to be a part of it. Some really interesting things go on here. I would like to keep it that way.”

O'Day joins Bob McDavid, Jerry Wade, Paul Love, Sid Sullivan and Sal Nuccio in the Columbia mayoral race.

A mayoral debate is scheduled to take place next Wednesday.

The election takes place on April 6.
