MILLER COUNTY, MO. -- Three suspects in the cross-country kidnapping case could be heading back to New Jersey.

Lonnie Swarnes, 44, Douglas Stangeland, 46, and Andrew Wadel, 21, are charged with kidnapping New Jersey resident Jeffrey Muller, 59.

Swarnes waived extradition Monday in Miller County giving New Jersey police 10 days to pick him up.

However, Stangeland and Wadel are fighting extradition. They could be back in court as early as next week to hear arguments in their extradition case.

Missouri courts said that they don’t plan on trying the case.

Multiple agencies are investigating the kidnapping.

Tuesday, New Jersey police said that they have “convincing evidence” that Mueller “was a victim of mistaken identity.”

Monday, Missouri police said that the suspects may have kidnapped the wrong person.

All three suspects are being held at the Miller County Jail.
