More than 50 dogs rescued from puppy mills in Missouri are flying to New York in the hope of finding homes.

This morning, Pet Airways is scheduled to fly the dogs from Chicago to New York where they will be put up for adoption.

The dogs were taken to Chicago yesterday by bus, where they were even given a special Thanksgiving meal.

The Show-Me state launched an aggressive campaign last summer to investigate and prosecute unlicensed dog breeders.

Some of the dogs come from a September raid on an unlicensed breeder in Rolla.

Net of Protection

I rescue Boston Terriers with Mid America Boston Terrier Rescue and we are well aware of this situation.

We are trying to work with other rescue organizations to put a net of protection out for these dogs that come from unlicensed breeders.
Our hope is to have the resources and foster homes to vet and foster homes to help the breeder dogs, begin their rehabilitation to become a happy family pet in their forever home.

http://www.adoptaboston.com/photogallery/Calltoaction.pdf explains our efforts. Although this letter refers to Boston Terriers, this is just a first step. Eventually we hope that this effort grows to help all breeds that are released to Dept of Agriculture from unlicensed breeders.

Consider being part of the solution and respond to our call to action.

It's about time

I'm glad to see Missouri take a real stand against mistreated dogs in the state. I hope the aggressive campaign can continue.
