COLUMBIA -- UPDATE 7:45 a.m.:
Columbia police say a suspect broke into a home and shot one of the residents inside.
The burglar woke up the man and woman inside, the man confronted the burglar and the suspect shot him in the leg. His condition is not known, the girlfriend was not hurt.
Police haven't released a suspect description, but hope to have more information later this morning.

Columbia police are on the scene of a shooting this morning.
Police say the call came in as a burglary and a woman said her boyfriend had been shot in the leg. Police haven't released a suspect description.
They say it happened at 3715 Southridge Drive off Oakland Gravel Road and Blue Ridge, near Blue Ridge Elementary School.
