Victim suffered gunshot to abdomen, died at hospital

CALLAWAY COUNTY -- A St. Louis man on a hunting trip was killed Saturday when another hunter in his party accidentally shot him.
The shooting happened in Callaway County just before noon on Saturday.
Authorities say two St. Louis men were hunting on the property off County Road 1027, just east of Auxvasse.
The victim was shot in the abdomen by another hunter in his party who was removing his rifle from a sling and it accidentally fired a shot.
The man was airlifted to University Hospital and died a short time later.
The shooting has been ruled an accident and no charges are expected.
