MONITEAU COUNTY -- Moniteau County is financially in the red after a state audit shows that the county’s General Revenue Fund has been deteriorating overtime.
The audit report states that the lack of oversight of project funds largely contributed to Moniteau County’s financial trouble.
The Capital Improvement Fund and the Special Road and Bridge Fund were also noted to be in poor financial condition in the audit report.
The prosecuting attorney had not implemented recommendations from previous audits. Recommendations related to planning for bad checks, providing adequate oversight and depositing receipts in a timely manner.
