WARRENTON, Mo. (AP) -- The city of Warrenton has resolved a problem that was releasing raw sewage into a creek.

Public works director Rob Hamlin said Wednesday that the city has repaired a fractured, 18-inch sewer line that was allowing untreated waste to enter Hickory Lick Creek.

He said recent heavy rains had undermined the sewer line, which fell apart, perhaps as early as Saturday. The city confirmed the problem Monday and notified the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, which was overseeing the cleanup.

The city closed off the sewer line, dammed the creek and pumped waste from the creek into its sewage treatment facility while the sewer line was repaired.
