OSAGE COUNTY -- The man accused of starting the fire that killed a Linn College student and burned down a popular restaurant is scheduled to appear in court today.

Online court records show John Tharp will appear in Osage County Court for a preliminary hearing.

The Osage County prosecutor has charged him and Lisa Willer with second-degree murder and first-degree arson.

The prosecutor says Tharp and Willer were cooking methamphetamine in their apartment when the fire started.

Twenty-year-old Dan Mittenburg's body was found in an apartment above Judy's Cafe in Linn's Town Square.
