JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Gov. Jay Nixon has appointed a new presiding commissioner for Scotland County in northeast Missouri.

Charles E. Harris Jr., of Memphis, Mo., replaces Mike Stephenson, who resigned.

Harris is the manager and vice president of Harris Motor Co. He has served on the County R-1 school board and several other municipal boards.

The appointment was announced Thursday.
