OSAGE BEACH -- Longtime School of the Osage Superintendent Dr. Lyle Hensley was presented with quite an honor Friday night.District administrators and faculty, both past and present, gathered at Osage High School to dedicate the high school building and campus to Hensley.
Dr. Hensley served as superintendent for 10 years, from 1977 to 1987, and was the driving force behind the construction of the high school on Hwy 42, as well as the football field and track complex.
"Well, I think perhaps that my 10 years at Osage was probably the most challenging of the 40 years I had in education," says Hensley.
"But it was also very satisfying because we were able to do some things that needed to be done for the children, the boys and girls of this area."
Former collegues say Hensley's top priority throughout his career was the success of his students.
Hensley served as superintendent of schools in Dearborn and Craig, Mo., as well as at Eldon before coming to Osage.
