Vienna police arrest man for passing counterfeit money

A mid-Missouri man is behind bars for passing counterfeit money in Belle, Mo.

The Vienna police department nabbed Stephen Nelson the Second of Belle Saturday when he tried to use suspected counterfeit money at a store in Vienna.

Police said this was not the first time Nelson had used fake money in Vienna. Police have been investigating him for some time.

Vienna Police Chief Shannon Thompson said nelson was making the counterfeit bills at a family residence in Maries County.

Nelson is charged with felony forgery and is being held in the Maries County jail on a $20,000 bond.
