NEW BLOOMFIELD -- It was a chance to go green and promote energy independence.

The New Life Evangelistic Center in New Bloomfield held their annual energy fair on Labor Day.

"This is an exciting time to get involved in renewable energy," said Rev. Larry Rice, the center's director. "The cost of [solar] panels have dropped significantly, over 25 percent, just in the last year."

People learned about alternative energy sources like solar and wind power. They also got to see how biodiesel fuels are made out of vegetable oil.

The fair was sponsored by Missouri Renewable Energy.

"There's all kinds of tax incentives out there," said Rice. "People want to be energy independent."
