JEFFERSON CITY -- The start time for Sen. Claire McCaskill's town hall meeting in Jefferson City has been pushed back half an hour.

Originally scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. next Wednesday, the meeting will now start at 4:30 p.m.

The doors at Lewis and Clark Middle School will open to the public at 4 p.m. School district  officials say seating will be limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

McCaskill will also hold a town hall meeting on Monday at 1 p.m. at the community college in Moberly.

The Democratic senator has already felt the heat over health care at previous town hall meetings across the state. It's a tension common at forums with Democrats in Congress but not felt by most Republicans.

"I'm actually on the side that believes we need more competition and more choices, not more government," said Rep. Roy Blunt (R-Springfield) at the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia. "So [my town halls] weren't too bad. I think we're seeing a lot of members of Congress get a lot of information that, hopefully, will be helpful to them."

"They're probably getting it a little more aggressively than they anticipated," said Blunt. "It's a pretty hot summer for some of my colleagues."

Last week, about 100 people demonstrated outside the Jefferson City office of Democrat Ike Skelton to protest his decision not to host town hall meetings during the August recess, even though he's never hosted one before.
