COLUMBIA -- The next president of Stephens College is excited to get to work. Dianne Lynch talked with KRCG yesterday.

She will be the 24th president of the Columbia women's school.

She succeeds Wendy Libby, who takes over as president of Stetson University in Florida. Lynch is leaving her position as dean of the Roy H. Park School of Communications at Ithaca College in upstate New York.

"in today's environment, women have as many opportunities as men have,” said Lynch. “They are as likely to be the leaders of the great corporations and the great countries as anybody. We have new responsibility, a new opportunity to prepare women in ways, perhaps, that we haven't before."

Lynch begins her new duties as president on June 2.
