JEFFERSON CITY (AP) -- Hundreds of teenagers gather in the capital city for Missouri's first youth tobacco summit.
The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids says more than one in five Missouri youths smoke. Missouri has consistently ranked near the bottom of states in the amount of money it spends on anti-tobacco efforts.
The conference includes sessions on a wide-range of topics -- from making anti-tobacco posters to helping friends quit smoking.
The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids says that for every 1 percent Missouri reduces its smoking rate, there would be 3,300 fewer high school smokers and 44,500 fewer adult smokers.
