JEFFERSON CITY (AP) -- He already owns a home in the Capital City. But Gov.-elect Jay Nixon says he plans to move into the Governor's Mansion.

Nixon is to take office next Monday.

For the past 16 years, he has lived in Jefferson City as attorney general.

There is no requirement that a governor live in the state-owned mansion. Gov. Matt Blunt, for example, split his time between the Governor's Mansion and his own home in Springfield.

Nixon says he does not know yet whether he and his wife will try to sell their Jefferson City home.
