MILLER COUNTY -- KRCG spoke to Miller County Sheriff Bill Abbott Wednesday. He tells us he requested the assistance of the Missouri Department of Social Services State Technical Assistance Team, or STAT Team to help in the county's ongoing investigation in the case surrounding the death of 2-year-old Alexis Jeanee Ward of Tuscumbia.

Ward died in February under suspicious circumstances and no one has been charged yet in her death.

The STAT unit specializes in child death investigations. Abbott says this case has such a complex nature and hopes the STAT Team can help county officials charge those involved.
