Johnny Cash tribute concert at Folsom State Prison canceled
(AP) -- FOLSOM, Calif. - Country music history won't be repeating anytime soon at Folsom State Prison.
Organizers were planning to hold a concert at the California prison's cafeteria, to mark the 40th year since Johnny Cash performed for inmates. A recording of the unorthodox gig became a popular live album.
But prison officials called off the show, citing problems over filming rights, media access and security concerns. The concert's promoter is blaming prison officials for the cancellation and says he was in tears when he found out.
The concert, which would have been held January 13th, was to feature the late Cash's music and include one of his original backup musicians.
