A Cole County woman is still missing after a month-and-a-half of investigation. Police suspect foul play in the disappearance of 32-year-old Jasmine Haslag. We have not heard from members of her family on camera, until Friday. KRCG's Mallory McGowin spoke to Jasmine's mother, who is searching for answers about her daughter.
"I'm not going to give up looking for Jasmine because those three little kids want to know where their mother is. And I need to know where their mother is," says Peggy Florence, Jasmine's mother.
Haslag's been missing for more than a month. Now her mother Peggy is doing all she can to not let people forget about Jasmine.
"I'm here on the news tonight asking everybody to please think back and please help me. Somebody has got to have seen her. We just don't disappear," says Peggy.
The Cole County Sheriff's Department is also doing what they can.
"As we've said, it's an ongoing investigation, so there's little that we can comment on it other than we're still doing interviews, we're still doing follow-ups, we're looking for every possibility that we can uncover," says Cole County Sheriff Greg White.
Jasmine last spoke to her children on June 17. She made plans to pick them up in Bland, Missouri the next day, but she never showed up.
"Picking her children up was something she did not miss," says Peggy.
Police later found her vehicle abandoned in a field off Highway 94 in Mokane. Jasmine was also supposed to appear in a Miller County courtroom on July 18th to face drug charges. She did not show up there either. Authorities and her mother now suspect foul play.
"I think that when you've had a person missing for a length of time, I think you just have to naturally assume there may be foul play," says Sheriff White.
"Jasmine was a very loving mother. Jasmine cared for her kids very deeply. That's what makes this so ironic, that Jasmine's been gone now for 47 days...47 days and she hasn't called her children once," says Peggy.
Although leads have not panned out, Peggy is working closely with the authorities to find Jasmine.
"The investigator told me he's been doing this for 10 years and he's never not found a missing person," says Peggy.
"Is that comforting?" I asked.
Peggy replied, "Is anything comforting at this point?"
Peggy told me Jasmine is a woman who worked hard and valued her family, and a woman people shouldn't forget about.
"I just want everyone to know that no, she hasn't been found and we need to still contine to look for her," says Peggy.
