NEW ORLEANS (AP) - New revelations about Louisiana lawmaker David Vitter are making for a hazy political future for the senator. On Monday, Vitter acknowledged he was involved with a Washington, DC escort service that federal prosecutors call a prostitution ring. And now, new claims are surfacing that he regularly visited a New Orleans brothel.
Jeanette Maier says Vitter was once a client at her Canal Street brothel -- and that he was a "normal, decent guy" who seemed to be looking for company. Maier pleaded guilty to running the operation in 2002. Maier says all the girls who worked there had only "nice things to say" about Vitter. She says, "It wasn't all about sex. In fact, he just wanted to have somebody listen to him."
